Gwen sent us out a note today - as one of our Master Gardeners she's advised there is Harvesting of some crops to be had, and some hands on deck would be appreciated this weekend if you are around for some tidying (and perhaps some green manure planting). Here's her note- we will do some harvesting on Saturday. :)
There's plenty of corn in the Garden ready for picking! It's best to pick it now as it will just go off in the next while.
Also the last of the Asparagus peas and plenty of Nasturtium flowers if anyone likes eating them.
Well Done whoever cleaned up the compost heap-- it looks Great!!
I've got some green manure for planting in a few of the beds. Also some Autumn onions which we'll plant at the weekend.Plenty of beetroot doing really well up there and also the Xmas spuds coming along nicely. There's also one lovely round green marrow from Chris which probably should be picked in the near future.I have it raised off the ground so it won't rot.
Hope to do a good bit of tidying if anyone is around at the weekend.
Thanks to everyone that came to the Garden Party! It was a great way to enjoy the company of our fellow gardeners and neighbours, and an occasion to get all hands on deck doing some Autumn maintenance. Not to mention some Lovely, Lovely, Food! :) Shout out to the Boozy Chocolate Cake (she says it was an accident putting that much in the batter... :) ) The to-die-for black currant cordial, the tasty bean salad, and it wouldn't have been the same without those brilliant brownies and cocktail sausages!
There are also a few interesting veggies growing in the garden this year...if you couldn't make the get-together do your best to get down to the garden and see if you can spot some of these beauties:
